WORLD WAR I - PARIS PEACE CONFERENCE SIMULATION

In class, you have worked as representatives of the United States, France, England, Italy, and Germany to author a peace agreement to officially bring an end to World War I.  For this blog assignment, each group should post the peace treaty that they have constructed.  The post should be written in the following format:

“We hereby agree to the following as terms for ending the hostilities between the ‘Allied Powers’ – represented by The United States of America, England, France, Great Britain, and Italy, and the ‘Central Powers’ – represented by Germany and her allies:”

In the following space, you should list point by point in detail the terms of the treaty upon which you have compromised.

Finally, your post should end as follows:

We, the undersigned, agree to honor all of the above terms.
(In the following space you should list each of the group members, along with the country that each represents.)

This blog is worth 50 points, and is due by Friday, April 27th by 11:59 pm.

  1. We hereby agree to the following as terms for ending the hostilities between the ‘Allied Powers’ – represented by The United States of America, England, France, Great Britain, and Italy, and the ‘Central Powers’ – represented by Germany and her allies:

-France and England take all of the German submarines and split them evenly between themselves.

-England and Italy will evenly split the Ottoman Empire; Italy will be sure to get land along the Mediterranean sea.

-Russia gets all land that Germany received in The Treaty of Liotusk.

-The seas are left alone, there will not be one dominate power controlling the seas.

-England will receive three fourths of German sea ports.

-Germany will pay money for the war to Italy, France, and England, paying equal and fair amounts to each country.

-Germany will be aloud to maintain a military, however it must be drastically reduced.

-Alliances will be able to be made, but they must be known to all other countries, no secret alliances can be made.

-Italy gets land that belonged to them before the war, specifically the Alpine Mountains and The Adriatic Sea Port City of Frome.

-All economic barriers between countries will be ended, thus allowing all nations access to trade markets around the world.

We, the undersigned, agree to honor all of the above terms.

  6. SAMI BUEKER, 1ST HOUR

We hereby agree to the following as terms for ending the hostilities between the ‘Allied Powers’ – represented by The United States of America, France, Great Britain, and Italy, and the ‘Central Powers’ – represented by Germany and her allies:

There is to be absolute freedom of navigation of all seas, even those outside of waters owned by territories, during both peace and war.

All economic barriers are to be removed, as much as is possible, and there must be an establishment of the equality of all trade conditions among the nations of the world that are willing to consent to peace and maintain trade.

The peoples of Austria-Hungary are to pay all reparations to Italy for the loss of various supplies and the damage done to Italy as fighting on her territory commenced.

The nation of Germany is to pay for half of all damages done to any territory controlled by Allied Powers, with the exception of territories belonging to Italy, and is also to pay for half of lost or damaged goods.

Belgium, as the world will agree, is to be evacuated and restored to the conditions it enjoyed before the war. It shall remain independent, without any attempt from other nations of power to limit this autonomy.

Various peoples of Austria-Hungary shall be allowed to determine their own sovereignty without any attempt to limit this self-determination by other opposing peoples.

An independent nation of Poland is to be erected which should include regions populated indubitably by people of the Polish ethnic group. This nation shall be assured a completely free and safe access to the sea, and whose political and economic freedom, as well as their territorial veracity, should be secured by international agreement.

All colonies belonging to Germany in all territories of Asia and Africa are to be proportionately distributed amongst the nations belonging to the Allied Powers.

The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, signed on March 3 of 1918 by the leaders of Russia and Germany, is to be repealed, and it is to be overseen that new, autonomous nations, populated and governed by the people living there, be created from the territory given to the nation of Germany by Russia.

All territories belonging to France should be released of foreign control and invaded portions restored, and the region of Alsace Lorraine, taken from the French by Prussia in 1871, should be rightfully returned to them who it was taken from.

Austria-Hungary is to relinquish the states, located upon the Adriatic Sea, of Carniola, Kustenland, and Croatia-Slavonia to Italy as a repercussion for the damage done to the Italian peninsula.

The Ottoman Empire is to be split equally among all the nations belonging to the side of the Allies. These portions of land will be possessed and governed by the said powers.

Germany is to withdraw all troops from all territories under the ownership of any one of Allied Powers.

The army of Germany may be of a size that is no greater than 100,000 soldiers at all times.

All military supplies of Germany will be reduced by half. These weapons are to be kept in a federal arsenal until a time of conflict and great need.

Due to the lack of a military, Germany will be allowed no more than one submarine and five warships. These weapons will be kept in port at all times, watched by nations belonging to the Allied Powers, until war or a period of immense necessity is inflicted upon the German nation.

A general court of nations is to be established under the covenants of all for the purpose of affording common pledges of political liberation and territorial integrity to dominant and minor states alike. This court of nations will regulate all efforts made toward the purpose of war with another country and will be governed by representatives from each of the present states.

We, the undersigned, agree to honor all of the above terms.
